It is that time again! We hope you can join us for a week full of new experiences and learning opportunities during the week of June 14-18, 2021. Even if you are still unable to host anything at your center, we hope you can partake in one or all of these opportunities. 

The mission of this week is to promote ICD and engage members in training, education and all kinds of learning opportunities.  Learning Opportunities Week is about bringing the the collective energy of the whole ICD program to the task of informing USW members of their ICD education benefits.

The second week of June each year is Learning Opportunities Week.  2020 is no different.  Well 2020 is different, but June 8-12, 2020, is still Learning Opportunties Week.  During this week, ICD will be promoting lifelong learning and providing some opportunities for Steelworkers to engage in learning experiences.  Even if your site is not able to provide Learning Opportunities Week events for your participants this year, we hope you will be able to share some of ours.

Join us for an informational session hosted by Tooling U-SME starting at 11:00 a.m. EST. This webinar will explain what Tooling U is all about as well as some of new and exciting classes they are currently offering. 

The second Learning Summit will be held Sept. 17-18 in Des Moines, Iowa at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel, located at 401 Locust Street in Downtown Des Moines.  You can reserve a room at the hotel here or by calling 800-468-3571 or 515-244-2151.  The deadline for the special rate of $149/night is September 2.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR 2018 ICD NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Who wants to meet us in Philadelphia the first week of June?

ICD is heading to the City of Brotherly Love for our 2018 National Conference and we want to see you there!

This year's conference will be held at the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square Hotel, a union property, located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia.

This webinar will provide an overview of our new partnership with Rosetta Stone. We will hear how ICD Program Coordinator Cindy Odden has implemented Rosetta Stone program at USW/Continental-ContiTech - Sun Prairie. She will share how the program is being used and the impact it has had with her members.  ICD's Rosetta Stone Account Manager, Martha Teu, will then provide an overview of the features and benefits of the program and the process for ordering and implementing at your site.

This training is designed for new Coordinators and new Local Joint Committee Members.  It provides an introduction to the program as a whole, an experience of successful sites through learning center tours, and a chance to network with staff and other Coordinators and LJC members old and new.  The agenda will include topics such as classes, funding, evaluation, policy and communications. 

The Milwaukee Summit will take place on Tuesday, September 19 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Wednesday, September 20, 2017 (9 a.m. to noon) at the Milwaukee Marriott Downtown Hotel.  The hotel is located at 323 East Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202.  A rate of $159 has been negotiated.

ICD's first annual Learning Opportunties week, June 12-16, will be a chance for ICD and all of our sites across the country to promote the excellent work you do.  We envision a Learning Opportunities Week that engages members and promotes ICD and all of the opportunities to learn that each of us has.

The 2016 ICD National Conference is scheduled for Nov. 16-17 at the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel in Mobile, Ala.

Please join us for two days of workshops, networking opportunities, plenary sessions and best practices. As always, the ICD National Conference promises to offer something for everyone.

For travel planning purposes, pre-conference meetings on Tuesday, Nov. 15 include:

ICD will be offering an Orientation to ICD on March 29-30 in Northwest Indiana.  Training will include information about the nation-wide program and its policies.  Discussions will center on running programs and classes and what it means to be a local joint committee member.  In addition, there will be tours of four learning centers and ICD's offices in Merrillville.  As always, there will be many opportunities to network and share best practices.  Please see the agenda for specific times and locations.

We will be drawing names for the 2015 Tino Fulimeni Scholarship on Thursday, October 8 at the ICD Learning Summit in Kansas City.

Training will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the Hilton President Kansas City.
